The 12th century ruins of Hohenburg Castle, also known as Homburg Castle or Hohenburg Fortress, stand on the 325 m high Schlossberg above the Schlossberg Caves in Homburg. The Schlossberg can be reached on foot from the hotel in about 20 minutes or by car in about 7 minutes and offers a beautiful view over the entire city and the surrounding area of the Saar-Palatinate district.

Sandstone Caves
The Schlossberg is home to the largest red sandstone caves in Europe, the so-called Schlossberg Caves. They consist of a total of 12 floors and have an extension of 140 m long and 60 m wide in the Schlossberg. They were created by humans and first mentioned in 1671. The tenth floor is open to visitors.

Roman excavations
In Schwarzenacker there is an archaeological open-air museum, the so-called Roman Museum, which was set up by the archaeologist Alfons Kolling and also led the archaeological excavations on site. Excavated buildings, outdoor facilities, streets and canals can be visited. The Roman Museum can be reached from the hotel in about 10 minutes by car

Downtown
"Once built according to the plans of the famous fortress builder Sébastien Le Prestre, Seigneur de Vauban under Louis XIV, Homburg's old town is still characterized by this special charm today. Where at the end of the 17th century horse stables, farm buildings and inns primarily shaped the cityscape, today is the largest specialist retail area in Homburg's city centre." (Source: homburger-altstadt.de).
The city centre can be reached on foot in just 2 minutes from the hotel.

Orangery Castle
From 1778 to 1788, Karlsberg Castle was built by Duke Karl II August of Palatinate-Zweibrücken on the 366 m high Buchenberg (today Karlsberg) near Homburg. It existed in Bruchhof-Sanddorf for only a few years. Today, unfortunately, only the construction magazine remains of the magnificent castle complex. The ruins can be reached from the hotel by car in about 8 minutes.

Kirkel Castle Ruins
Today's landmark of the municipality of Kirkel, not far from the city of Homburg, lies on a free-standing red sandstone rock. The castle ruins are a very popular destination and were first mentioned in 1075 by a Count Gottfried von Kirkel. It has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. In 1955 it was revived. The castle ruins can be reached from the hotel by car in about 15 minutes.

Women’s Fountain
The Celts already used the Frauenbrunnen as a place of worship. It is located directly on the Felsenpfad, an approx. 7 km long circular hiking trail near Kirkel. At the fountain you can see a passage, which is supposed to be the end of an underground escape tunnel from Wörschweiler Monastery or even lead to a treasure. (Source. wikipedia.de).

Wörschweiler monastery ruins
The monastery ruins near Wörschweiler are a former abbey. It was built in 1131 by Count Frederick I of Saarwerden and his wife Gertrud as a Benedictine monastery. It was last destroyed in a fire in 1614 and uncovered during excavations from 1954 to 1958. The ruins can be reached from the hotel by car in about 10 minutes.
